Does Your Solar or Solar + Storage Project Qualify for Energy Community Tax Credits?

Does your solar or solar + storage project to start adding energy independence for your business also qualify for bonus Energy Community tax credits?  This could be in addition to the already 30% tax credit for clean energy projects, and in addition to 100% bonus depreciation. Perhaps your area is near a previous coal mine closure or has suffered unemployment after previous energy-related jobs went away. Updates are here from the IRS: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-25-31.pdf.  This information is on top of the already established Energy Community mapping from the federal government here that may not have been updated yet.

How can your business claim all of the clean energy incentives it deserves? It depends on which timeline you follow, as described in this earlier 2025 IRS notice about beginning construction on energy projects.  We suggest having your accountant review all of the IRS guidance to see how you qualify. The window is beginning to close on these benefits for your business, so the time to act is now!

Another reason why now? Not only could you qualify for tax incentives, but your energy costs are only predicted to get higher in the coming years. This news report sums up how nationwide, energy rates are rising at double the rate of inflation.  Creating your own on-site energy is one way to hedge against this rising expense.

If you decide to make this financial move to invest in lowest-cost clean energy, Solar Alliance is here to design and build it for you.  We have more than fourteen years of experience, and are your commercial solar experts in the Southeast.
