Solar now supports the fun at Cal Johnson Recreation Center in downtown Knoxville!  Solar Alliance has installed a 20.5 kW photovoltaic system on the roof of this popular place for sports and social events.  The City of Knoxville expects this solar installation to save the city approximately $4,000 each year in utility costs,  more than paying for itself in savings over the next couple of decades.  The recreation center array fits into the municipal plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by the year 2030.  Solar tops off a recent major renovation to the center that honors philanthropist Cal Johnson, who is remembered as Knoxville’s first African-American millionaire. The project was completed in early 2023.
